Medford Sai Center is a center dedicated to fostering and furthering the Divine Teachings of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. The center is the focal point for individuals to learn and practice the teachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. As He himself says’
“The organization named after Me are not to be used for publicizing My name or for creating a new cult around my worship. They must try to spread interest in prayer, meditation and other spiritual practices which lead man Godward. They must demonstrate the joy that can be derived from singing and remembering the Lord’s name, the peace that one can draw from good company. They must render services to the helpless, the sick, the distressed, the illiterate and the needy. The service must seek no reward”
Propagate through practice and example the five basic values taught by Swami-Sathya (truth), Dharma (Right Action), Shanthi (Peace), Prema (love) and Ahimsa(non-violence)
Organize activities that foster these basic values
Foster an environment where the center becomes a place full of Prashanthi (Peace) where spirituality can be developed and nurtured so as to benefit our fellow beings as well as each of us..
The first seeds of the Medford Sai Center were planted nearly 48 years ago. The first bhajans were held in an apartment with a few devotees in Voorhees, NJ. It soon became an official center with Swami’s express permission on the Vijaya Dashami day in 1976. Devotees came from as far away as Landsdale, Pa and Warminster, Pa. Such was their devotion that they came on Friday’s for Bhajans and Sundays for Bal Vikas classes driving long distances. Gradually centers were created in Landsdale and in Warminster. In 1983 or thereabouts Medford Sai Center and Cherry Hill Sai Centers were formed from the original center. They continue to this day with Swami’s Grace. The activities of the Medford Sai Center are described elsewhere on this website.
